a doodler

When I was in high school, I would doodle throughout my days in class. I was living in NY after having spent many years in NC. I missed the beach and therefore, most of my doodles were about surfing or the ocean. For some reason, though, I would often include a drawing of trees that I would imagine came from the African Safari. I came across the above photo by Nick Brandt and was immediately transported to my freshman year in high school. I remember nothing of what I learned from my teachers and everything about the world I created in my head while doodling in class.
