Happy Summer

First things first... I apologize to the handful of people that read, or used to read, this blog on a regular basis.  I've gotten your calls and texts and e-mails regarding the lack of posts and your complaints have been noted.

The absence can be explained simply - I had a part time job that was a bit overtime for a while and now i'm back to part time.  I have been blessed with a job that sort of fell in to my lap and has turned out to be a dream.  I'm still figuring out my time management since I work from home and the office.  I've also got little boys that have turned things up a bit and i'm figuring myself out along the way.  Life is good!

Our summer is HOT!  These two still spend 90% of their time outdoors and the other 10% pestering me.  They have changed a lot in the last couple of months and i'm learning how to adapt to their new normal.  We've hit the phase of independence and contradiction - they want to be independent with a lot of things and I contradict myself constantly.  Get your own food, don't get your own drinks.  It's just great :)

They still get along most of the time.  There is a bit more pestering and jockeying for space, time and general "who's in charge".

Nolan is something else.  He is doing most everything that his brothers are doing and he is always letting us know he is ruling the roost.

Guess who turned 5.

It kind of make me cry... 5.  I'll spare you all the "look back" at NICU pictures so you can see how far they've come.  They look different this year.  They act different this year.

As I said, our summer is HOT.  We are experiencing a historic drought and it's all I can do to keep my flowers from dying.  We are also trying to invent new ways of entertaining ourselves since it's too hot to move!

We've realized that horses most likely will become part of our lives - permanently.  We were gifted a morning of horseback riding with a professional and I think that Garrett cemented his love.  They rode a pony so all three were able to get in on the action.  It's clear, though, that this is Garrett's thing.  So much so that he got a riding helmet for his birthday.  I think i'm going to have to get a second job :)

Hudson really loved the chickens at Ms. Patty's.  We are considering some of our own but can't seem to find any more room on our plate for them.  Maybe next year.  But more likely once Lacie isn't around.  She's a freak about birds!

I'm sure that i'm missing a ton but that's all i've got right now.  Life is just too busy to keep up some times.  We are all well and happy and Mark and I are wrangling children.
